Southern White Admiral

This gorgeous butterfly led me a merry dance until I finally nailed it drinking from a poolside puddle, clearly showing its definitive single row of black spots on the rear underwing (White Admiral has a double row), It also shone bluish black in the strong sunlight. Montmeyan Provence.
Also, the area has proven amazingly good for birds - I've seen Rollers, Hoopoes, Bee-eaters, Black Kite, Honey Buzzard, Western Bonelli's Warblers and Nightjar among within 5 minutes' walk from the house we've rented.
