Griffon Vulture
To be honest, I don't think I'd heard of the Gorges du Verdon until we'd booked our trip to Provence, but they are amazing - and their beauty was greatly enhanced for me by great views of Alpine Swifts and these giants overhead and below. In a small lavender field we found about 50 Silver-washed Fritillaries (including a Valezina specimen) and a couple of High Brown Fritillaries, a species I've only seen once before.
