Sweet
An unscheduled visit to Bournemouth today to see how my in-laws were managing after my father in laws’ fall yesterday. He had rushed to the front door in his bare feet when the door bell rang. It was a male carer for my mother in law. As it happens the carer was useful as he was able to pick up my father in law but my mother in law is refusing to accept a male carer which is understandable. My father in law turned around quickly and lost his balance. A nurse visited today and she is arranging for a mobility aid so they will have matching ones. She is also sorting out a key box to go outside of their apartment block for use by carers, family, etc. she may also be sorting a fall button for both of them. My father in law wants to explore independent home help, ie non NHS which my mother in law is getting at the moment. My initial research shows they charge £23 per half hour so two half hour sessions a day would cost £322 per week, still a lot cheaper than a care home for them both. I want to explore as well if he is entitled to the attendance allowance which my mother in law receives, that would help towards the costs.
I woke up again with an aching neck in the night and then an aching arm this morning and then I twigged, I need to stop carrying full 20 litre watering cans. I will have to restrict myself to 10 litre cans.
I spotted this old fashioned sweet William in a garden I passed in Bournemouth this morning.
