Almond Pool

Interesting day on the Shale Trail with Glasgow Ramblers. A long easy walk along Scotland’s Oil Rush pathway which I had no idea existed. We climbed  one of the five sisters bings which is a pile of waste rock, the remnants of shale mining and were rewarded with a 360 degrees panorama with Edinburgh and Arthur’s Seat clearly visible.
A bit of a wait at West Calder for the slow train back to Glasgow, fortified by half a scotch egg and a whole peanut chocolate bar.
The extra is the bing.
