Spoiled
This morning breakfast came courtesy of our gracious host and took the form of vegan sausages embossed in ketchup and encased in bread. They were delicious and set us up for the day.
Whilst Garv sorted through his myriad of fishing gear, which had been dumped into the garage in the house move, Si and I had a stroll around the paddocks, taking time to skirt the river’s edge and sending squadrons of damsel flies into the air.
Eventually we were all sorted and headed to Rushmoor Lakes which were absolutely beautiful. There we spent a very pleasant few hours catching a wide range of species from roach, bream, chub and crucian carp to gudgeon, perch and the hellish crayfish.
Our hosts continued to spoil us with arrival of Liz in a summer dress with a picnic basket full of vegan chicken wraps, drinks and yoghurts. Definitely the only way I want to fish henceforth!
Mid-afternoon we packed up, freshened up and made our way to the village green to catch the final few overs of the local cricket match and watched in wonder as the ball being slammed all over the place somehow managed to miss all the surrounding glass, cars and people.
It was soon time for tea whereupon Si and I were spoiled once more by being treated to delicious burgers followed by Eton Mess (him) and Sticky Toffee Pudding (me).
We meandered home to walk dinner off and spent some time listening to old records (featuring the Harry Lime theme from The Third Man), at which time the good grub, times and booze caught up with us and it was time for bed.
Feeling very spoiled.
Thank you Liz and Garv!
