Just give the job to the women

For the past 30+ years Mr hazelh has sat on this sofa disappointed at the end of a football match, but not tonight - hurrah!

In case anyone has missed it, England has beaten Germany 2-1 after extra time to win Euro 2022. This is the country's first major trophy at senior level since 1966. Mr hazelh's first words on this achievement were 'If you really want something done, just give the job to the women'.

On the whole it's been a great day. We managed a lie-in (rare in this household) after 11+ hours of sleep(!), I booked a weekend away in Yorkshire with the Foxes next May, I baked some very crumbly flapjacks for Bruce and Elly who visited us mid-afternoon, and I indulged in a bit more pottering-gardening.

The only bad news is that Mr hazelh's father has had a fall and been taken into hospital in Nottingham, but it doesn't sound too serious.

Tomorrow I will make a start on preparing two conference presentations, both of which are to be delivered in September.

Exercise today: none - we were meant to be going for a run at about 18:30, but a certain football match was declared more important.
