Mothers' support group

These Highland cows are mothers to two of the three calves that have been born in the last month. This is the second time in the last few days that I have seen them grooming each other around the head and neck. Maybe it helps to dislodge the numerous ticks before they get a hold.

We learned a lesson today. If the dealer who sold you your car some years ago comes up with an offer to replace it that looks too good to be true, then it is too good to be true! The trouble was that it took several hours of the best part of the day to establish that, but we were very relieved to escape unscathed, and shall be happy to keep our little Jazz going for another couple of years yet. We celebrated our non-purchase with a late lunch at Wolf House.
