Another train for William
We motored north along the coast to Cleethorpes with the intention of traveling on the northeast Lincolnshire light railway. This mural greeted us on our arrival.
The journey took us parallel to the coast path to the municipal swimming baths, where we took the land train along the front to the pier. Basil wasn't allowed on the pier, plus it was crowded, so we came back.
Cleethorpes looks very pleasant compared with some seaside destinations I could think of. It even has donkeys on the beach.
I suppose some people might be deterred by the tide going out further than you can see. It is on the Humber Estuary. But knowing how far the tide goes out at Trusthorpe, I'm sure it comes right in at high tide.
We stopped at our favourite Lincolnshire garage at Saltfleet to fill up with cheaper petrol and have our usual cup of coffee. The memorial to Jimmy who was killed in the Iraq war is fading over time.
And then we stopped off at Rimac nature reserve where I finally had the opportunity to fit my polarising filter. Several species of dragonfly flitting over the algae covered pond.
