Poplar wood

This tree was knocked down by a brief tornado last year in August. Thoughts already turn to the winter firewood supply. Still too warm to start chopping but even though it is mightily hot (34.4c at 15.08) the nights are lengthening appreciably and the span and ferocity of the sun’s chariot is diminished from the terrible dog days and nights of July.
