Motorway woods

Farewell Cumbria,
we’ll miss your fresh air and fun.
Hope to see you soon!

Journey home today, traffic was pretty good and boys were OK in the car.  It’s times like these that give me a point of comparison and show how far we have come. A couple of years ago Ben would have meltdowns about almost every car journey but particular triggers were long journeys and journeys that signified the end (or sometimes beginning) of something. Today he just hopped in the car and other than minor sibling bickering, he was good as gold.  Once we were unpacked and had taken delivery of our Tesco shop, we had lunch, prepared tea and Ben and I went out for our favourite walk by the local river. It runs alongside the motorway so there’s a trafficky hum and there are power lines and pylons, so it feels far away from Cumbria but also there’s lots of woodland and a lovely riverbank, often with a Heron.  Today the elderberries were noticeably more ripe than when we had left a week ago, I enjoy watching the seasons shift and change and being away, even for a short while, highlights it all the more :-)  Happy Friday all!
