Pests!

One of the “joys” of gardening is trying to beat the various pests that spoil our crops. Carrot root fly, cabbage root fly, caterpillars etc etc.
In the past, chemical warfare was the most common method of attack, but now we try a more “organic” approach.
And so it is with carrots!
I have lost so many in the past to the dreaded “fly” but for the last few years, they have been protected by a fine mesh which prevents the “enemy” from getting at the roots.
As you can see, it looks like I’m going to have a pretty good crop this year.
Of course, one of the biggest “pests” is Hugo who has helped himself to tomatoes and carrots in the last twenty four hours!!!
He’s such a loveable rogue!
