WITH A SONG IN MY HEART

Clearing Out…Again!

While I was sorting the rooms out before our guests came I put things aside that I wanted to sort out and get rid of. There folders from my nurse training - of which I was very proud as it was the first time I had ever studied anything and that was at the age of 36. I also did a couple of creative writing courses and they have been binned too, they are still on a pen drive somewhere.
The only things I kept were my Final Certificate of Nursing and one silly little story. I feel great now that they’ve gone.
Now I need to deal with my old 60’s dolls. The only reason I haven’t thrown them away is because they’re made of plastic and I don’t want them going to landfill. What do you do with old baby dolls?
We had an easier day today as we couldn’t really do any bureaucracy because Tonya and Yurii are waiting for their Biometric Residency Permits.
They are such easy company and we’ve had lots of conversations and laughs. When Tonya face-timed her Mum we said hello too. It was quite weird because her Mum is the image of my Mum at the same age. My Mum died in 1999. It was bizarre.
Frank is on a mission to teach Yurii to speak English. He’s doing it a lot through playing games - tonight was dominoes. He also told them the different body parts of Bella :-D)) which she enjoyed because all attention was on her!
We had a lovely Indian take away tonight, we were very hungry when it arrived as he was so late delivering it.

Bedtime now, but first the poem:

215/365
Clearing Out…Again!

I’ve hung on to these files for years
Assignments and records of training
But what was I keeping them for
Who on earth wants be lumbered
With the parts of my life still remaining
They would end up not knowing whether
To bin them or keep them in the attic
Guilt might stop them throwing them away
What will they do when they themselves are old
I’m just being practical not over dramatic.

Goodnight ;-)X
