Badminton
... And not a horse in sight :-)
We did make a trip to the QE for Ruth to have an MRI at lunchtime but the trip to Birmingham this weekend is all about the Commonwealth Games. Ruth has tickets for Table Tennis and Diving as well as tonight's action. After a couple of rather one-sided matches the action really warmed up with this India vs Pakistan men's doubles, lots of partisan support for India pushed the decibel level up. However, this was just the warm up act as the following woman's doubles between England and Malaysia raised the roof when the home team came from behind to win the first game in the best of three match. The second game was almost as close and also went England's way. Fast and furious athletic action with some fantastic rallies, it was compelling to watch, reminding me how much I enjoyed badminton when I used to play ... and might still enjoy it yet! Videos of the final points here.
Back home, I'm hugely grateful to C for walking Meg today and to Jamie who has been a star looking after Meg until Katie got back from her latest hospital trip. No GPs available at our health centre this week - not something I am going to rant about despite it being a desperate situation. There simply aren't enough GP's, an issue that should have been addressed properly before now. Cost of living crisis? Get real folks - the changing climate is going to force us to re-evaluate what wealth looks like and a whole lot of other things too, whether we address the reality coming our way now or not. OK - perhaps this is a rant!
