Waiting for the Ferry.
Busy day - spent time painting in a rather different way...using brushes and oil sticks only, on canvas......not sure what to make of it.
Then off we went to the beach. It was glorious, we walked for a bit then sat and just watched and listened to the waves. We had decided we would head into town for dinner....well, that was a bit of a disappointment. A lot of the places close their kitchens at 8pm.....we got down there exactly at 8pm. We had to wait for the 2nd ferry so it took longer than anticipated. the only place that remains open till 9 pm doesn't take reservations and is always packed at this time of year!!! We ended up at a place on the main street, it's mostly pub type food...but i was getting fed up and hungry. so it is now 8.15 and so we ordered pizzas. After waiting about 45 minutes i asked our server how long it might be! Poor woman, apparently only her and 1 other woman were doing all the serving and only 1 guy in the kitchen!!!! You could tell they had been busy all evening and were pretty tired! Our food came a few moments later.
I've mentioned it before, there is a terrible strain on those folks that are working and there just doesn't seem to be folks available for these types of jobs....what the fuck!!! I know it's the result of the crazy stuff that has been going on for the past few years...but surely there must be something to be done. Our little village gets overrun by tourists in the summer months and these places rely on this time of year to make some money - all in all it's a very sad state of affairs.
The pizzas were very good and much bigger than we had thought, so guess what i have for lunch :)
