Not Instagram-friendly

One of the surgeons stuck her head round the curtain and said they were bringing forward my operation: instead of Monday, it would be today. 

Not long after I'd spoken to her, they took me up to theatre. 

I wake in the ward. My leg feels a bit achy - but not painful - and oddly light. When I mention this to the doctor, he says it's not unusual - though some people feel their leg's become impossibly heavy.

The mushroom soup might not be the most attractive-looking, but it's very welcome.
