Wellington Monument
This evening we travelled down to Wellington in Somerset to spend the weekend with my brother and his family.
This is the Wellington Monument which stands on the Blackdown Hills a couple of miles outside of the town. It was erected to celebrate the Duke of Wellington's victory at the Battle of Waterloo. The foundation stone was laid in 1817 but it wasn't completed until 1854.
It is now owned by the National Trust and is a Grade II listed building.
