Everyday I Write The Book

Fauxtography

Found some new faux cheese in Waitrose. The vegan holy grail. We’ll see …

Domestic day – lots of gardening, bit of shopping, some cleaning etc.

Finished reading “The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida” which is a Booker longlist novel set in Sri Lanka at the height of the civil war. The narrative switches between the spirit of a recently murdered photographer (Maali) and – in flashback – his living self. It’s part indictment of the country and its politics, part exploration of the cosmos and the afterlife, part whodunnit and part a universal diatribe against the vagaries of human nature. Some harrowing accounts of torture, massacres and bloody conflict interspersed with sex, friendship and gambling. Very multi-layered book. Don’t read late at night unless you want ghosts in your dreams.
