Still alive but am bearing breathing
Last Thursday Tooli announced we had to see Where The Crawdads Sing… however before we saw it we had to read the book.
I started while she was in Bristol last week…. And managed to finish on Thursday - she took over for a marathon reading session between Friday and this morning. AND SHE DID IT!
Si didn’t want to see it. He said it sounded girlie even tho we tried to explain it was a murder mystery, - we then made the mistake of saying - ‘ah that bit where she starts her period’…. That ruled it out completely
He went to see Bullit which started ten minutes before ours.
For half an hour we had the whole cinema to ourselves …. And we laughed and chatted. Then we had half an hour of adverts all of which were really scary .. and we started to panic we were in the wrong cinema.
But then it started and it was fine
The film follows the story well; there were a few things we didn’t like - Kya was too clean and well dressed all the time. They didn’t spend enough time demonstrating the fear her father installed in her and the rest of the family.
I know films have to summarise a story but I did feel it rather skipped over a lot of what I thought was important detail from the book
None the less we had a lovely time and then we found Si after we had exited and toiletted.
I asked the attendant when Bullet had finished and he told me in a waft of Body oder ‘fecking ages ago’
Si confirmed however that he had been merely waiting 3 songs worth
