Sunday afternoon at the canal basin
Richard and I still haven't really got back into the routine of finding out what's on locally, music-wise, since the end of Covid restrictions. But today a friend - Rosie Brown - was singing in a pub at the canal basin, accompanied by a wonderful jazz pianist (Naadia Sheriff). The pub itself is lovely, having partly been restored with timbers salvaged from the canal boat that give it its name (the Dorothy Pax). Several good reasons to get out and soak up the music.
And this turned out to be a real treat: a mix of jazz standards, some Joni Mitchell numbers, and some songs written by Rosie's partner Mike Jones (a musician in his own right, and once a member of the band Latin Quarter).
