MY SHIRE
Took a picnic lunch out to this new structure built in a remote coner of the Karoo. This new labyrinth is based on the Chartres Cathedral labyrinth in France dating back to 1201.
I noted all the "duiweltjies",(little devils) a particularly nasty little thorn that grows on a creeping plant. The thorns are the seed pods, appearing in the Summer months. Any soul who dares to walk the labyrinth barefoot will have a sharp reminder of the trials and tribulations that await us along the pathway of life!
We found a shady corner on the stony banks of a little stream and the children played in the water while we tucked into local cheeses and fruit.
I look forward to seeing and walking the labyrinth in Spring when there should be lots of flowers.
