Queen Mary II and QEII

Some fellow blippers will recognise these boats!
We are having a few days away and saw two of the Cunard ships at the Southampton docks yesterday. Also two Princess cruise boats which are much bigger. We have never been on any ships as big as this…we have done cruises but on smaller boats with 100-150 people which meant they could get into small harbours.  Our ferry was much smaller and we were surprised to find it had air conditioning…most welcome.

Today we went to Osborne House, Queen Victoria’s (huge) holiday house on the IOW. Very hot there, around 31C , but cool in the ground floor of the house. So many busts and statues of dogs and people as well as so many paintings of her family. Also some very good paintings that Queen Victoria did herself.
Down at the beach there was a traditional Punch and Judy Show. Also went to the Swiss Cottage and adjoining gardens which were all for her children to play in!

No red squirrels showing themselves today..too hot.
