A sail too far....

Loch Riddon is very tidal and even on a normal rise and fall it dries out below our house every day, with the exception of the river channel, which meanders back and forth .

Consequently whilst kayakers and even the odd jet skier can be seen risking (knowingly or  unknowingly)  the sandbanks we don't get boats, large or small this far up.

When they do venture,  which is rare, this is the likely consequence - stranding until carried off by the next higher tide.

My extra photos show not only a close up of the main picture, but also the wee yacht beginning  to tip as the tide falls.

I have also added one more from what would have been my blip before this happened late afternoon - glazed breadsticks with sesame seeds  and a bread and butter dip, at the start of a wonderful  lunch sitting out of doors as the ever superb  Inver which was recently named the best restaurant in Scotland.

We are lucky to have it so close to us - luckier too than the man with the boat today who must have been kicking himself for attempting something that proved just a bit too difficult.

(PS : the boat was  lifted by the high tide in the early hours of the 14th)
