Thinking ahead.

Even though we are still in a heatwave (although the cloud is gathering as I write this and thunderstorms are expected) our thoughts today were turning towards the winter wood supply, as a result of friends coming to take a few bits from our stockpile which has been built up over several years as trees have been taken down (or come down ).   

It is getting smaller and now we need to cut and split some more of it into the right size for the burner in the lounge, which often provides good additional heating on cold and wet days, which will not be that far away. 

We are fortunate to have this resource, though it does not provide our main heating and hot water source, which is from wood pellets which have - like all energy sources - risen sharply in price in recent months.
