Soft Landing at Monkey Mia
We finally made it to Monkey Mia with only minutes to spare before the sun was setting last night and an added bonus was seeing a group of Pelicans standing quietly on the Sand Bar. I said to Mauzee, “we must see if there here in the morning”. Well to our great delight they were and this majestic creature made my day when it came in to land right in front of us. We couldn’t believe that out of the hundreds of people staying at Monkey Mia in the Resort, we were the only two people on the beach before sunrise and had this incredible natural wonder all to ourselves. We had an extraordinary day today and I can see there will be three or photo books to work on out of this trip so far. We were so blessed with good weather today and managed to see a great deal as we left Monkey Mia and drove towards Carnarvon and beyond. We stayed tonight in a camp site just off the road about 100km from Carnarvon with quite a few other campers. It was simply safe haven for us and we will have a good start in the morning.
I have added an extra of a pelican taking flight and his mate doesn’t look a bit concerned. I know Yorkshirebred loves a nice pelican pic, hope you enjoy these YB :)
PS - I have swapped the images around. Sorry for the confusion. But I honestly have been having an argument with myself as to which should be the main one.
I have had to back back blip this tonight as we didn’t have one bar of reception last night.
