Scotland
We woke in time to be out of the hotel and on our way to the seafront at 10am. We had a lovely breakfast at The Espy before meeting Mum and Dad, who’d eaten in their hotel. In the end, I was thankful of the orange juice yesterday because I had a nice clear head. I am not sure Dad did after being partially responsible for the downing of a bottle of whisky.
We were driven to to the station, and we hopped out by the shopping centre entrance, in time for the 3:30pm. We ended up being in time for the earlier train but decided to stick with our seat reservations and so spent some time in the lounge looking at the art of things that, I guess, were meant to depict Scotland. I liked them a lot. The seats on the journey back were lovely. We had airline style seats but the LNER First Class has a very solid table in front of these seats so there was plenty of room to fire-up a Bosch on my iPad and have a drink that was served at the seat. It seemed to fizz by. We were at King’s Cross before 8pm and home in under an hour.
It was a short trip but it felt like we packed a lot in and we saw lots of family which was great fun.
