Superbloom
By 2pm we were at Waterloo and on our way to The Tower of London. We have tickets to Superbloom at 3pm and were allowed in a little early, which I think worked out for the best. The 2pm crowed was most of the way through and the 3pm crowd hadn’t really arrived.
This was most helpful on the little slide that we had a go on. I’ve not been on a slide where you have to insert yourself into a sack-like thing to help you slip down. It was quite a lot of fun, although we didn’t get pictures of us both setting off down two of the four lanes at the same time!
Later, we had a couple of hours for dinner and watched the place gradually fill up as the evening wore on. But we had to take a Jubilee train to North Greenwich and The O2.
We were originally supposed to see Queen and Adam Lambert in 2020 and it’s another of the postponed gigs. The staging was amazing. Adam Lambert is an incredible perfumer and very respectful of Queen’s heritage. The setlist included Killer Queen, Don't Stop Me Now, Fat Bottomed Girls, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, A Kind of Magic, as well as many more. The main set concluded with Radio Ga Ga and Bohemian Rhapsody. The encore included We Will Rock You and We Are the Champions. It was one of those concerts where everybody knows the words and sings along.
There was nice touch, part way through, where Brian May sang Maybe It's Because I'm a Londoner on a stage that came out into the audience. We were at the back of the standing area, near the (very expensive) bars but the views throughout were good. I did have to content with a very tall man in front of me but, for most of the gig, he was pretty much fixed to his spot.
