Great first day at pony camp (not pony club camp- that's far too intimidating!).

We were up early to travel to the instructors yard for 9am. Luckily got there before it got too hot. The kids were split into two groups for the two days. First off Eva's group hacked to an indoor school where it was cool enough to do some games. Clearly all very new to Jack, he took a bit of encouragement to go near some of the games equipment. Was good fun. They finished with a canter round the school. Typically Eva initially said she didn't want to do it but then when she saw all the other kids having a go, she decided she would too (which was my thinking behind taking her to this!).

We had some lunch back at the yard, then there was a decorate your pony competition. Kim told us that she hadn't been able to get hold of the usual brand of paint but that this was water based and should come off but she was sorry if it didn't come off. (Found out later it doesn't!)

After that we went on a hack to a farm shop where we all got ice cream and the children found their teddy bears having a picnic. There were sweet bags hidden in the hedge on the way. The lady there was lovely and took the kids round to feed the lambs whilst the mums held the ponys.

Then we put the ponys to bed and had a massive water fight to stay cool. So much fun. We ordered pizza for tea and stayed up late chatting.

We had taken a tent to sleep in but in the end I couldn't be bothered to put it up. Everyone else was sleeping in the back of their horseboxes and trailers. We don't have any living space in ours so I swept out the horse area and put a tarp down and we put our camping mats down on that. Was comfy enough for one night. Can't say I slept that well! Woke up in the middle of the night to Eva looming over me covered in blood. Once I'd got over the initial shock we established it was just a nose bleed! Phew!
