Day two of camp. So many pics from today. I may post some extras.
After packing up we moved to Aylesford. One of the instructors got heat stroke and was really poorly (ok now) and Kim had tried to get someone else to help but hadn't been able to. So all the mums helped each other out for the mini cross country course. Jack was a little excited. Eva's still new to riding him in open spaces and she got really anxious. When she saw the jumps she said she didn't want to do any of them. I'm getting to know how to handle this now so I said 'ok, we'll just stand here and watch the others do them'. Obviously once she saw everyone else have a go she decided she would too. Jack was so good for her but was a shame the instructor wasn't with us as she was hanging on to him too much which just makes him lean in to her. She did do her best to relax though and had some lovely jumps. Her favourite was a little brush fence. We then took a walk down to the water complex on the main course for a splash. Loved watching her riding with her new friends. Everyone has been so lovely and welcoming. Only wish we'd done something like this years ago. The youngest kid in the other group is only 4!
In the afternoon we had a SJ lesson with Kim in the arena. I did my best to leave Eva to it as she's more than capable but she got anxious again so I ended up running with her. They both did brilliantly. I moved away from them a couple of times and it was not problem but I did get a bit frustrated as Jack was being a saint and she was grumbling he was going too fast etc. Everything Ruth and Ella have taught her seems to get forgotten when she gets anxious, but we'll get there. Think we just have to keep going and doing it as long as she says she wants to as she is so pleased with herself when she does! We finished the session going over a ditch which Jack jumped big. She was laughing her head off and asked to have another go. Yes! Result! Thing is it barely unseats her when her jumps big so I know she can do it!!
Kim did a mini presentation and Eva found out she won the paint a pony comp from the day before (still not sure it's going to be worth the hours of scrubbing we'll have to do to get that bloody paint off. (He's already had one bath and still has stains!)
Got back to the yard exhausted with lots of unpacking to do and the other two to see to as well. Had a brilliant time and met some lovely people. Eva is already asking me to book for next year!
