Nature's Reclamation
God, it was cold this morning. The wind was roaring from the west down the Moray Firth straight into my face. Its earlier journey had been from the north. It turned left over Skye and cut straight across the Highlands. Unfortunately its northern circulation passes over the Greenland icecap and then the cold north Atlantic. As a consequence, for a short period as Milly and I were on the sea front there was driving sleet at sea level. If there is anyone out there in Blipland who has a direct line to Big G, JC and Spooky, (Thanks John L), could you ask this Holy trio to give the jet strem a nudge north at least as far as the Pentland Firth. It has been too far south for too long now.
During a lull in the passing weather systems there was a brief glimpse of blue sky. We were passing this old quary working at the time. Suddenly everything was still so you could take a photograph of vegitation without everything being a blur. The bullrush heads that have turned to that white cotton down are in great demand at the moment by the birds for nesting material. What was once a scar on the landscape has now been regenerated by mother nature and once again taken it's place in the natural order of things.
