Back in the saddle again...
Another morning spent filling winter barley into the grain tower. Have been at the job since Monday, and still a fair bit to go. Need to get all the winter barley off the shed floor and into bins so we have somewhere to tip the spring barley and oats when we start cutting. It's a slow job,as the conveyors and elevators were installed in 1961, and had the very up to date ( then) capacity of 5 tons an hour. Now they are on their last legs and breakdowns are frequent. And considering a 10 ton trailer is now a small trailer the whole place is very outdated. Unfortunately we are stuck with it as can't afford the vast expense of building a new set up for only 200 odd acres of grain.
Ho hum....
The wind got up after lunch so headed off to bale barley straw down country. Kev still on carting bales home.
Had caught up with the combine so headed home by 8 pm.
Then a quick change of vehicle and back down the road to feed the heifers. Was heading home at 9 pm when it started to rain , pissistantly !
