Rainwater pooling on river paths…..

A pre-dawn walk for Maisie and me. Water from yesterday’s rains had pooled on many stretches of the concrete paths along the downstream areas of the Taylor River. Gumboots were essential. It is not cold but we have had rain all day here in Marlborough. A State of Emergency was declared earlier this afternoon. The roading systems throughout Marlborough are taking a hammering with flooding and road closures. Storm effects such as flooding and landslides over the Whangamoa hills in Nelson have caused devastating effects in many parts of Nelson City and environs. A heart-breaking situation for so many property owners and indeed the whole community.. And it is still raining there. Kia Kaha Nelsonians
