Retirement

Gordon has been our Minister for over twenty years, and he and his wife Karen are well loved by us all.  So it was fitting to have a retirement dinner for them tonight.  We could fit no more into our sanctuary, and we had a lovely three course dinner, with wine (even in the Church of Scotland!!).  

We had a quizz about Gordon, guessing various things about him, the only one I got right was that he was born in Glasgow.  We had our church band playing some of Gordon's favourites, Bob Dillon, The Beatles, some jazz too, and we danced is the aisles.  Gordon's youngest daughter played for us.

We did have some serious speeches and it was quite emotional at times.

On Sunday Gordon will deliver his last sermon to us.
