Running time
We woke to rain, but it cleared away and we had a beautiful afternoon.
Because of the rail strike there were no trains running from EK today, but we needed to go into Glasgow. Buses were not a good option either, as because of lack of drivers these are few and far between, so we used the car, something we rarely do to go to the city.
The roads were very quiet, and the city was not too busy either. We met up with C, and made our purchase, then had coffee. The HG opted to have another coffee while C and I did a wander around John Lewis. It was such a pleasure to be there as the shops in our town are sadly depleted and our town centre is now quite a miserable place to be.
I took a quick snap as we were passing 'Running Time' a 20 ft. high cubic shaped clock on stainless steel legs looking as if it is running. It was created by the late George Wyllie who created some very quirky sculptures around the city. I really like it. When George died the clock stopped, the Council partly fixed it but it did not run very well. However, there was a bit of an outcry about it and they were forced to mend it properly and it now tells the time correctly. A wee Glasgow landmark.
We have been in Glasgow very rarely over the last few years, but I was impressed with how good it looked, and the sunshine of course helped. I took a couple of extra shots too.
