Memories
My first ever photo workshop was organised by the National Trust and held at Nymans one Summer's day many years ago, on what was then a closed day so that we had the gardens to ourselves including the glorious Summer borders. We were mentored on how to what are now for me "the basics" of how to achieve front to back sharpness and composition covering macro to landscape subjects using the flower borders as subjects, with gentle critique of shots taken. I have been back to Nymans many times since, which is made easier nor they open 7 days a week all year, but still recall some of that advice. After couple of not unexpected disappointing years the borders are returning to their former glory (extra 1).
However, today's visit was primarily to view the latest part of the site to open to the public; the Great Hall. The main rooms of the house were destroyed by fire in 1947, and never restored, primarily because there were limited resources available so soon after the war. The Great Hall has now been made safe and developed as a peaceful garden The gentle rain falling during my visit just added to the tranquillity (extra 2).
However, it's Flower Friday, so my main image just had to be a field scabious
