Ashby de la Zouch Castle

We had a pleasant stay in Ashby - Chinese banquet for tea last night, a nice room and a very good breakfast this morning.

We went for a wander around the castle - which is close to the town centre (to be honest, pretty much everything is close to the town centre).

This is the view of the main building (remains of) - and I climbed up to the top of the tower on the right (with the grilles in the ‘windows’) - and there is a view of the chapel from there in extras to prove it. 98 leg burning steps up a spiral staircase.

We popped into town for a coffee and then drove home via Calke Abbey (an NT property) where we had a wander around the gardens and the obligatory cup of tea and a cake

I have a fair bit of blip catching up to do over the next few days...
