Down the ladders

After an exciting crossing of a steep snow slope to the Vignettes hut, and a fierce hailstorm after we arrived, we were off again at Dawn the next morning. Down and out by a different route from the bottom of the ladders. This is where our route had to depart from the original plan, due to heatwave, lack of snow, rockfall and ice conditions. After a very long day, two big descents, one big climb and 15 miles of ‘walking’ we’d crossed the border into Italy and arrived at our next accommodation- delightfully Italian.
