Cattle Egret

I was driving across the little bridge over the marsh on my way home and saw a cattle egret wading fairly close. It's been awhile since I've seen one , so it really caught my eye and gave me a little thrill. I pulled over in the driveway, hopped out, and hung out on the edge of the road to try for a photo. In truth it was a bit early in the day for that sort of thing, and keeping one eye out for cars made it that much harder to get a decent photo of the egret.

I am continually impressed with the many great bird images which appear on blipfoto. I often see pictures that are as good or better than any "professional" shots I've seen. These are the sort of photos that, in my moments of weakness, make me envy those fancier cameras with a decent telephotos lens. It's hard to get clear wildlife photos with an iphone unless you are very close! 

One solution I've found is just to go hog-wild with the filters and effects and try for something less photo-realistic. It's still satisfying because I don't think I could ever draw or paint something comparable freehand. Needless to say, that's is how I amused myself here.
