Diary of an Edinburgher

No more plumping!

Robert popped in for a visit today - he’s flat out packing up his furniture (and contents of the garage) and moving to his new house next week.

And then - great excitement - Elizabeth came to take Archie out (she’s been away on holiday). They got a wee bit wet - it was dreich all day, but he was happy enough.

I was very happy too, as we got our feather cushions changed to more practical foam ones. Feather cushions, I found, are not at all comfortable, and I’ve been whingeing about them since we bought the sofas and we thought ‘They’ll need a bit of plumping’ was just a passing remark. No. They need CONSTANT plumping. They sink right down and don’t give any support whatsoever. In fact, they try to chuck you off!

The chap in the foam shop said he’d do them right away, and we were to pop back in a couple of hours (we had our old sofas re-juvenated there years ago). Brilliant! JR is getting used to them - they don’t have the same plumptius (is that a word?) look as big billowy feather ones (which is only when you’re NOT sitting on them) but boy, they’re much more sensible. I’m so pleased.

Pip is coming for a sleepover tonight. His mum is off to Canada early tomorrow morning. She won’t even get the suitcase out until he’s left the house! He’s with us in  the mornings for three weeks while his dad goes to work.
