A Load of Rubbish

Given the state of the surrounding streets in the centre of Edinburgh, this overflowing bin in Middle Meadow walk is almost a model of rectitude. In fact, given the propensity of the Meadows’ sun worshipers and picnickers to drop their rubbish in situ, I have been astonished that the grass is free of litter. I don’t know if this is because people are uncharacteristically taking their rubbish away with them or that the ‘Friends of the Meadows’ are coming out secretly at dawn to collect any mess. Whatever the reason, all the rubbish seems to be localised round the bins.

After the hurly burly of the last few days, I had a peaceful day today- a little light cleaning, a little light food shopping and a little light walking in the ‘hood. I have done the Crossword ,the Sudoku and Wordle and knitted some of my sock but have been putting off trying to decide what to say about the book I chose for the Book Group which meets tomorrow. I have been putting it off till I can put if off no longer and I confess I’m doing a bit of cribbing by reading the Guardian review first.
