A few days ago I said that one of three transformative musical moments in my life was when I first listened to Kraftwerk's Trans Europe Express on my grandmother's old stereogram. Today is another of those moments, being the first time I heard Jean-Michel Jarre's Oxygene. I was playing in my best friend's garden when all of a sudden this incredible music emerged from his brother's bedroom. It was like music from outer space, just the most amazing music I had ever heard. 

When I returned home I asked my dad, who had a huge record collection, if he had a copy of Oxygene and, to my surprise - he was a rock and roll fan, mainly - he did. I took it upstairs and listened to it on my headphones over and over again. This was music that took me on a trip to another world; I was hooked. Ever since then, I have been a Jean-Michel Jarre fan. It is just incredible that at 72 years of age he is still an innovator in the field of electronic music, and he looks so young and energetic.
