Earlston Place
12-15 Earlston Place, London Road. Two tenement buildings side by side, matching in style. Both were designed by architect Peter L. Henderson in 1882 for the owners of the adjacent London Road Foundry (on the right) owned by Miller and Co. that operated between 1867 and 1991. Miller and Co. had their offices on the ground floor of these tenements for a while. One unit housed a bank too. Numbers 12-13 were constructed first and 14-15 followed slightly later. Upstairs, the space has always been apartments. On the left of the tenements passes the old rail line running through Abbey Hill Station. The buildings are both listed, category C. London Road Foundry was demolished and Meadow Bank Retail Park, opened in 1997, stands on its former site.
