O'Cebreiro - Fonfria - Triacastela
And then it rained. A lot. And not just rain, but the kind that came in horizontally with the wind and just saturated everything. What was supposed to be our first 'nice' day (only 22.3km - luxury!) turned into something of a surrealistic nightmare up in the hills as raincloud after raincloud swept over and through us.
Thank goodness for Fonfria and the excellent Albergue A Reboleira - no, we didn't stop there for the day (though we considered it!) - but we did take a good hour and a half's break during which things dried out and we stocked up on food and hot drinks. It also gave me a chance to actually use my camera, today's Blip being pretty much the only photo I took all day!
We're a hardy/foolhardy bunch though and after the rest we continued on, marching the final 10km to Triacastela quickly enough to arrive early afternoon and find the hostel we were aiming for... shut... So we backtracked to another where they had not only all the facilities you would need after being caught in a rainstorm (there was a mass clothes wash and dry session!) but they'd also been paying attention to the weather - every radiator was on full blast and the place was full of sleeping bags, boots and clothes drying out before we added our own to the mix!
A hearty meal and drink later it was an early and restful night for everyone - clothes and sleeping bags dried and a warm room - it was all we needed.
