Katoomba

We have tried to arrange a family gathering to celebrate birthdays (70+40+40) and have had some success. One family is still home with a sick child but most of the rest of us have arrived over the afternoon and ended up in our room taking up all the chairs and bed and floor space. This place reminds me of Fawlty Towers. It’s dated and like a rabbit warren but clean. It was one of the few places in the mountains with available rooms for 6,4,4 and 2 doubles. Air B&b s only cater for 16 people and we are 18. 

No one told us there is a music festival on. There are hoards of young people and police everywhere to control the crowds. It’s noisy with bands in the block behind the guesthouse and Darryl Braithwaite is performing at the RSL next door.

You just never know what you are going to get when away from home. Wonder what tomorrow will bring.
