Elder Park
16°C - 5 mph WNW Wind Speed - 8 mph Gusts - Overcast. It rained all morning so I didn't think I'd get an outdoor blip! Lo and behold the sun came out a little bit this afternoon so Fiona and I took a walk down to Elder Park. My main blip is a statue of Isabella Elder who was the wife of John Elder a Glasgow shipyard owner. She was a great one for caring for the community and actually ran her husband's business for nearly a year after his death and kept on her good works - read about her here - she is an inspiration . She was awarded an honorary law degree of LLD in 1901 in recognition of her good work - the first time any woman had been so honoured - and in 1906 a statue of her dressed in her academic robes was unveiled in Elder Park - the land the family owned. The extras are Gulls, in their different environments in the Park - water, tarmac and grass, a Pigeon and on the way home a lovely little Rowan.
