Wound up in Wexford

Stoney Cove

Our research last night found a pub/restaurant at Stoney Cove.  So, having done a little bit towards getting control of our rather chaotic box situation, including finding the microwave steamer we would have liked to use last night,  we decided to walk down there for a late lunch.

This is a retired granite quarry, now a large lake, and has been adopted by a diving club.  There were lots of people in the water today - random bubbles appearing in many places.  There were also swimmers, towing their flotation devices.  And in the car park, many others at various stages of pre or post dive.

The restaurant was quite busy.  Hot sunshine dictated the table we chose - it had to be shaded.  Basic, but tasty, meals.  There was a rather noisy family sitting near us at first, and dad was smoking.  Fortunately they left before becoming too irritating, and we enjoyed our meal in peace.  As I was drinking my coffee, a large party of kids arrived.  All well behaved and controlled, but kids don't have a volume control do they, and it was very noisy.  I drank up and we departed.

Using the satellite view in Google maps, we found a footpath for the walk back, allowing us to avoid the roads as much as possible.  This evening, by the same means, I've spotted a route to Stanton lake, where there's a tapas restaurant, but I'll need to check it out on the Ordnance Survey maps to see if it is public access.
