Impressionism

It is a while since I tried this technique and I thought I would give it another go as it was nice and sunny. The traditional film way of doing this was using vaseline and smearing it over the UV filter but you can do it just with camera movement - moving your camera upwards during a slow shutter speed.

Today it was quite bright and the slowest shutter speed I could get was only 1/20th of a second, given my lowest ISO (80) and highest aperture (f11).

It is very much a hit or miss technique but surprisingly I did get quite a number of shots which would be usable. I chose this one as the blurring is minimal and it encompasses a whole woodland scene rather that just a few trees. At the edges of your picture the trees tend to bend outwards and I used the warp tool in Photoshop to straighten them up a bit. I've included a couple more in my Blipfolio HERE
