Gotherington Halt

If you look closely at this vintage railway station building and platform you will note it is never used. The double track has been replaced with a single line that runs beside this halt on the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Heritage Railway. Passengers who board/alight here are connecting with footpaths that lead into the lush Cotswold countryside.

It was my first visit to this station as a pedestrian. It is a short walk from an excellent local garden nursery where T spent time planning and plotting our garden upgrade. The owner is extremely knowledgeable and has been curating this excellent horticultural haven for decades.

In response to my question about rising fuel costs he was pleased to have done a good deal with a bottled gas supplier, he had insulated some of his greenhouse roofs, ordered industrial supplies of bubble wrap and was hoping for a damp autumn and a very mild winter! Aren’t we all?

No rain again today. No rain in the next week’s forecast either. However, the grass is beginning to look less like a desert. The heavy late sumner dew is helping too.
