Seed time

I had a walk around the meadow pre-breakfast. A marsh tit was feasting on the knapweed seeds. There are plenty of marsh tits around here, and to my mind they are decidedly quirky in “character”.

However, the most peculiar image I have taken today does not work in mono. Walking through a meadow below Gait Barrows late morning I noticed a movement at the side of what I think is a curled dock stalk. It was a large spider. By the time I had picked my camera up it had apparently disappeared into the plant. It’s colouration exactly matched that of the surrounding dock seeds. It sat there, it’s legs braced on its silken trigger waiting for an unfortunate insect to cross the trap it had set, image in extra.
