A Sad Day for Pittenweem

Our village Chip Shop went on fire last evening not long after it opened. All the staff and customers got out safely and unhurt, save for shock of course. The owner had to stay in hospital overnight with smoke inhalation.
Directly next door is the Cocoa Tree cafe which has heat and smoke damage.

Villagers are pretty shocked and sad today, coming to terms with the loss of a Pittenweem Institution which has served the community for over forty years.
These are very old buildings and are in a conservation area. Thankfully the thick stone walls prevented the fire from spreading.
