Almost a traffic light that I discovered when watering the garden, after another dry day.

For me, a day at my desk, doing nothing but paperwork - mostly for my mother’s health insurance.

Her former employer offers a service that pays for part of her medical bills, but they recently changed to a new service provider. So my mother got a letter listing their new requirements: A form to be filled out by hand - four pages long, asking all kinds of medical questions - plus a number of legal documents to be sent with it, for the new company to process her applications in the future.

It took me a few weeks to apply for and collect all the necessary documents. So today I tackled the form, made the required copies of all her medical bills from the last couple of months, filled out the required separate list of all said bills and sent the resulting stack of paper off. In a big envelope, by mail. It’s 2022, but they don’t provide a way to send documents electronically.

In the initial letter to my mother, her former employer explained the reasons for switching to the new provider, saying that the process would become quicker and less complicated in the future. I am not convinced.
